2006 President's Reception
The Evening was spent giving the Chapter's new President, Scott Hightower of Cox Communications, a congratulatory hand shake as the members gathered to welcome him to his new post.
We had a terrific 2005 season under the leadership and motivation of Bob Adelman, with Fox Cable Networks. Now, we look forward to continuing our growing momentum in 2006 as Mr. Hightower focuses on membership expansion, expert knowledge input and new network resources for our members.
Our Special Guest
Our special guest speaker for the evening was the intriguing Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications. Mr. Esser gave Scott warm welcome and congratulations on his new position and responsibilities. He also gave the audience a taste of his concerns over new legislation that is being proposed that could have rippling effects across the cable and broadband industry. He gave his opinions about the regulation of franchise offerings, which includes strategic consumer packages vs "a la carte" choices. He believes the industry has stepped up and developed packages that offer consumers the same choices (and more) that they would have otherwise if they choose the "a la carte" channel options. Additionally, he feels that value added services such as phone, internet and wireless, gives our industry an edge and makes for strong competition as boundaries are crossed in order to find new opportunities.
Mr Esser stressed that, although there are new opportunities in front of us and new ways to present consumers with competitive services packages, the industry can not get away from the fundamentals of basic, yet strong customer service skills and highly reliable services. With this, combined with smart offerings, your customers are sure to remain loyal and not look elsewhere over a $5 difference that the "other-guys" can offer.
